Children and Youth
Our youngest children will learn to nurture and affirm their individuality and spiritual growth through songs, stories, activities and play! Child care is offered from 10:30-11:45am. If you need child care for a UUFNN event, please RSVP to our acting DLRE.
Classes for Children (Pre-K-6th graders)
Most Sundays * * 10:30am-11:45am * RE Building
Children attend the beginning of each service and then are “sung to class” after the Time for All Ages. Our children’s classes use hands-on, artistic, and thoughtful activities to examine faith, religion, UU principles, and meaning and purpose in our lives. Our children are also introduced to the importance of spiritual practices, community building and service and social justice.
Classes for Youth (7th-12th graders)
Most Sundays * 10:30am-11:45am * Schweitzer room
Youth are invited to fully participate as leaders in developing programmatic offerings and co-learning with other youth and adult leaders around topics of importance in our community. Youth also participate in Sunday Services, organize social events, engage in Social Justice activities, and build community with each other and others at UUFNN. Youth also participate in various fundraising activities throughout the year to help pay for sending youth representatives to district/regional youth conferences, UUA General Assembly, and other large-scale events.
Youth Brunch Bunch
1st Sundays * 10:15am-11:45am
Once per month, our youth (7th-12th grade) are invited to attend Brunch Bunch at a local restaurant. Join us for community building, socializing, and monthly themes for discussion. Gather at UUFNN at 10:15am with your own money. Ask our acting Director of Religious Education if you need support! Permission slips are required for these monthly field trips.
1st and 3rd Sundays * 2:00pm-4:00pm
Navigators USA is an all gender, secular scouting movement that welcomes all families. Given our similar principles and goals, UUFNN partners with Navigators to offer opportunities for UUFNN families to participate!
Currently children’s ages in the group range from 4-10, but all are welcome. Navigators engages in outdoor activities, community service, creative projects, and skill building to earn badges and have fun!
More information about Navigators can be found here: https://navigatorsusa.org/
Most gatherings will be held in the Starr King room at UUFNN. However, if there are plans for a hike or an outdoor activity the meeting spot might be at a trailhead or site. Check in with the site leader before attending: Navigator Chapter 195 Leaders
